Project
A project is a limited period achievement with a
defined beginning and end, undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives.
Temporary
means every project has a defined beginning and defined end. End is reached
when project is complete.
Unique means
that the product or services is different in some distinguishing way from all
similar products or services.
A project may
involve a single person or thousands. It may be completed in an hours or it
takes several months or years to complete.
Example of projects:
- Designing a vehicle
- Constructing a building
- Developing a new product
Signs of product risks:
- S/w peoples do not understood customer needs
- Product scope is poorly defined
- Changes are managed poorly
- The chosen technology changes
- Business needs change
- Deadlines are unrealistic
To prevent from
project failure a s/w project manager and software engineers who build the product must avoid a set of
common warning signs, understand the critical success factor that lead to good project management, and development a
commonsense approach for planning, monitoring and controlling the project.
