Project management- what is project management?



Project management

Is discipline of planning, organizing, motivating and controlling resources to achieve specific goals.

 A project is a limited period endeavor with a defined start and end, undertaken to met unique goals & objectives.  

The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as habitually, which are repetitive, permanent or semi endurance functional activities to produce products or services. The management of these 2 systems is frequently quit different and such requires the development of different technical skills and management strategies.


The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives. The primary constrains of the projects are scope, time, quality and budget. The secondary challenge project management is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to meet pre-defined objectives.

There are approaches to managing project activities including lean, iterative, incremental, and phase approaches.
Project management software has a capacity to help plan, organize and manage resource pool and develop resource approximation. Depend on sophistication of the software, resource containing estimation and planning, cost control  and budget management, collaboration software, communication, conclusion making, quality management and administration or  documentation system.

 Today there are number of PC-based project management software packages exist, and they are almost every type of business. 
Software may range from high end Microsoft project to a simple spreadsheet in Microsoft excel.
