Software configuration management system | elements | element

There are four important elements that should exist when a configurationmanagement system is developed:
  •  Component Elements                                                                                Component Elements is a set of tools coupled with a file management system (e.g. database) that enable access to and management of each software configuration item.
  • Process Elements                                                                                             Process element is a collection of action and task that define an effective approach to change management (and related activities) for all constituencies involves in the management, engineering, and use of computer software.
  • Construction elements                                                                                         Construction element is a set of tools that automate the construction of software by ensuring that the proper sets of validation components (i.e. the correct version) have been assembled.
  • Human element
Human element is a set of tools and process features used by the software team to implement effective softwareconfiguration managementThese configuration management tools are IBMrational ClearCaseAccuRevSaltChef etc.
These elements are not mutually exclusive. Process elements guide many human activities that are related to software configuration management and might therefore be considered human elements as well.
